April 23, 2010--According to the Fresno Bee, the injury count for last night's multi-vehicle crash near Visalia is now at 7. The accident was on southbound Highway 99 at Highway 198. One as yet unnamed victim was air lifted to the hospital. At least 4 vehicles were involved. According to witness Katie Duncan, a cargo truck was stopped dead in the road. Just previously there had been a nearby chemical spill.
Issues yet to be determined include the speed of each vehicle in the five seconds prior to impact as determined by the air bag event data recorders, accident reconstruction data from impact damage, whether the earlier spill contributed to this accident and whether any roadway defects may have played a part in this crash.
