School Bus Hit By Car in Bakersfield

October 26, 2011- A child was hurt after a car crash with a school bus on Wednesday afternoon, in Bakersfield.

The driver of a Ford Crown Victoria ran a stop sign at Cottonwood Road and East Hosking Avenue. The Ford broadsided the special education school bus.


There were three people on the bus during the crash. No one was seriously injured. One child was hospitalized with minor injuries as a precaution.

Motorcycle Rider Collides with Big Rig in Bakersfield

October 29, 2011- A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a crash with a big rig, in Bakersfield. The accident happened at about 5 PM, Saturday evening.

The CHP reported that a semi truck was traveling on Union Avenue, near Houghton Road. The truck was turning left onto another road when the motorcycle crashed into the back of it.

The rider was thrown from his bike. He suffered serious injuries.

Officers report that it appears the motorcyclist didn’t make any attempts to brake before slamming into the back of the semi. They do not believe alcohol was a factor in the collision.

The big rig driver was uninjured.

Amtrak Train Hits Car in Fresno Hurting One Person

October 28, 2011- A 19-year-old woman was injured after her car was hit by an Amtrak train, Friday night, in Fresno. The crash happened at about 10 PM.

The driver was traveling up Maroa Avenue, and tried to make a right onto Princeton Avenue, but made it too early. The red car got stuck on some gravel at the train tracks.

Two passengers tried to push the vehicle off the tracks, but weren’t able to move it.

The driver was still in the car when the train hit the rear end of the vehicle.

The woman suffered only minor injuries and was taken to Community Regional Medical Center.

Motorcycle and Vehicle Collide West of Fresno

October 31, 2011- One person is seriously injured after a crash between a vehicle and a motorcycle, which occurred west of Fresno, Monday morning.

The accident happened at about 6:45 AM, on Whitesbridge Avenue near Monroe Avenue.

Head-on Accident Leaves Three Hurt in Fresno County

October 21, 2011- Three people were hurt after a head-on collision in Fresno County, Friday night.

A pickup truck was driving on the bridge over the San Joaquin River, near Friant Road and North Fork. The driver crossed the center line and slammed into a Toyota Corolla.

Two people in the Toyota suffered serious injuries in the accident. The driver of the truck was also badly hurt. All three were taken to a local hospital.

Officials are investigating the cause of the crash.

Police Cruiser Crashes During a Pursuit in Clovis

October 25, 2011- A Clovis police officer and another driver were injured in a crash that involved a pursuit of another car, in the Fresno area. The accident happened just before 6 AM at the intersection of Shepherd Avenue and Willow Avenue.

Officers were chasing Michael Kaercher, who is accused of trying to break into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment. The ex-girlfriend has a restraining order against him, and a neighbor had called the police.

Kaercher was driving a gold or white colored Acura sedan, when he ran a red light. As the police cruiser was chasing Kaercher, the vehicle and a GMC truck crashed.


The suspect fled the scene, as all officers stopped to aid in the collision. Kaercher is still at large and said to be dangerous.

The officer and the driver of the truck received only minor injuries and were taken to the hospital.

Update: Stolen Car Crashes into Apartment in Visalia

October 25, 2011- An update to the crash that slammed a car into an apartment building in Visalia, on Tuesday.

The stolen Honda Accord suspect, that the police were pursing, has been identified at 19 year-old Alex Requejo. As Requejo tried to evade the police while driving west Caldwell Avenue, he tried to turn from Caldwell onto Court. He lost control, plowing through a traffic sign, some large rocks, and into the apartments.

It is reported that a paraplegic woman lives in the apartment that Requejo crashed into. She is normally in bed by 10:30 PM, when the accident happened. But at the time she had just finished taking a bath, when the car slammed through her bedroom wall. She was unharmed.

Requejo is facing several charges, including driving a stolen vehicle and evading police.

It is unknown when the woman’s apartment will be fixed and ready for her to move back into.

Crash Leaves One Dead in Southeast Fresno

October 25, 2011- One person died in Fresno after a crash between two vehicles, on Tuesday at approximately 8:58 PM.

A 66 year-old man, driving a green Toyota Camry was southbound on Armstrong Avenue. A red Hyundai Sonata with a driver in his 60’s and a 50 year-old passenger, was traveling west on Jensen Avenue.

The driver of the Camry did not stop at the intersection's stop sign, and slammed into the Hyundai.


The driver of the Toyota was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, but later died from his injuries. The Hyundai’s driver and passenger received major to moderate injuries and were also taken to Community Regional.

Stolen Car Crashes into Apartment in Visalia

October 25, 2011- A car being pursued by officers crashes into apartments in Visalia, at about 10:27 PM.

The Farmersville Police was pursuing a 2001 Honda Accord, reported stolen in Visalia. As they were following the stolen vehicle down Caldwell Avenue, the car crashed into an apartment building on Caldwell, at Court Street.

The driver was not injured in the crash, and was taken into police custody.


There were no injuries to the residents of the apartment building. Those living on the bottom floor will probably not be able to return to their apartment in the immediate future. It is also reported that the traffic light was knocked out as well.

Fatality in Bakersfield after Drunk Driver Crashes into Truck

October 24, 2011- A Bakersfield man traveling with his family was killed in a crash, in Bakersfield on Monday, at about 9 PM.

A red Chevy Silverado truck driven by Aurelio Esqueda was stopped at a red light in the right turn lane, at Mt. Vernon Avenue and Niles Street. A black Chevy Avalanche pickup, driven by Xsabier Medina, traveling at a high rate of speed slammed into the back of the Silverado.

Esqueda who was reported to not be wearing his seat belt, died at the scene of the accident. His wife Luz Cardona, and their 7 year-old child received major to minor injuries, respectively. They were taken to Kern Medical Center.



The CHP reported that Medina may have been drunk at the time of the crash. He ran away after the incident, but was taken into custody a short time after. He suffered only minor injuries, and was arrested for vehicular manslaughter, hit-and-run, and DUI.

Motorcyclist Seriously Hurt in Crash On Caldwell Avenue

October 20, 2011- A motorcyclist received serious injuries Thursday, after a crash with a car, in Visalia.

Donald Ferguson of Visalia, was riding a Harley Davidson east on Caldwell Avenue, when a 2006 Toyota RAV 4 turned in front of him, near Drive 88.

The front of the Harley hit the left corner of the Toyota. Ferguson was ejected from the motorcycle, and slid across the roadway. Where he then struck a light pole.

Ferguson suffered major injuries and had to be airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno.

The Toyota’s driver was not hurt in the crash.

Drunk Driver Causes Fatality on Highway 168

October 21, 2011- A man was killed in a crash involving an intoxicated driver in Fresno, early Friday morning.

Perla Vazquez of Clovis, was driving her Infiniti G-35 east on Highway 168 near Shaw Avenue at about 3 AM. She slammed into the back of a Jeep Wrangler, driven by Frank Winslow of Clovis, sending the vehicle off the freeway, 40 feet down an embankment.

A short time later an off-duty Madera Police officer saw that the Infiniti was heavily damaged and pulled Vazquez over, before she could exit at Bullard Avenue.


Frank Winslow died at the scene of the crash, after being partially thrown from his Jeep.

Vazquez was arrested for DUI, driving on a suspended license, felony hit-and-run, and she has now been charged with murder.

Fatal Motorcycle Crash on Highway 152

October 21, 2011- A motorcycle rider died on Friday evening in a crash on Highway 152, northwest of Fresno in Madera County. The crash occurred at about 6:20 PM.

David Lee Pennington of Los Banos, was riding his Harley Davidson west on Highway 152 at a high speed. He passed some other vehicles while approaching Road 9. Pennington’s Harley crashed into the backend of a Jeep Wrangler, driven by David Standridge of Escalon, as it turned from Road 9 onto the highway.

The motorcycle flipped over, throwing Pennington onto the highway. Other drivers at the scene of the accident tried to help him, but he died. The Jeep’s driver was uninjured.

Tragic Accident Kills Teen in Winton

October 17, 2011- A teenage girl was hit and killed by a car in Winton, north of Fresno, on Monday. The accident occurred at about 7:30 PM.

Monica Cazares, 13, was running northeast along Winton Way, south of Bridget Court, when she ran out into the road and was struck by a 2009 Nissan Altima, driven by Samantha Miller.

Miller tried to avoid hitting Cazares, by slamming on her brakes and turning her car to the right. But the right front of the car hit the girl. She was thrown northeast and landed along the curb, north of Bridget Court.


Cazares died at the scene of the crash. Miller and her 7 year-old passenger were not injured in the collision.

CHP reported that alcohol was not a factor in the accident.

Highway 43 Accident Ends in Fatality

October 23, 2011- A woman was killed early Sunday morning on State Route 43, in Shafter, northwest of Bakersfield, at about 7:15 AM.

The driver, Donna Lynn Barnes was parked on the shoulder of the road on Highway 43, near Burbank Street. She made a U-turn across the road and was hit broadside by a semi truck. She was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The big rig driver was uninjured in the crash.

Shafter Accident Kills One Person

October 23, 2011- A deadly crash happened in Shafter, northwest of Bakersfield, Sunday afternoon. The accident occurred just after 3 PM.

The CHP reported that the crash happened at the intersection of Merced Avenue and Palm Avenue. A pickup truck with a trailer ran a stop sign and slammed into a car that had the right of way.

A passenger in the car, Ruben Solis Rojas, was killed. Two other people had to be flown to the hospital to be treated for major injuries.

Two People Struck By SUV in Bakersfield

October 17, 2011- Two people were hit by an SUV on Monday afternoon in Bakersfield. The crash occurred at around 2 PM.

The driver of a Chevy Suburban was towing a truck. He thought the trailer came loose and turned his head over his shoulder to look. While looking the driver veered off the roadway and up the curbside, hitting the 14-year-old girl that was walking near Pesante Road and Mesa Drive. He then crashed through a fence and hit an elderly woman in her front yard.


The girl’s suffered moderate injuries, and the woman minor injuries. Both were taken to a local hospital.

Update: Train Hits Car on Arboleda Drive in Merced

October 13, 2011- An update to the crash that happened on Thursday on Arboleda Drive near Highway 140, north of Fresno.

The crash that involved the driver of a BMW getting hit by a train after it got stuck on the railroad tracks, has now been identified as Angie Machado of Chowchilla.

New reports say that Machado got stuck on the train tracks as several cars tried to make their way around another crash that just happened minutes earlier.

Paramedics treated several patients for minor injuries in that other accident, as authorities started directing traffic. Machado says that she was being waved across the tracks when the train came into view.

She said as soon as she got off the railroad tracks, the officer put his hand out and stopped the traffic. The crossing arms started coming down and there was a car in front of her BMW, so she could only go backwards.

The guard rail came down on top of her car, trapping her in place. She was far enough back that the train collided with the front end of the vehicle.

Machado was not seriously injured and was able to walk away from the crash.

Highway 99 Crash in Bakersfield Leaves Big Mess on the Road

October 18, 2011- Northbound Highway 99 was shut down for almost three hours Tuesday after a big rig accident leaves a big mess all over the freeway.

The crash which happened near Merle Haggard Drive in Bakersfield, occurred at about 4 PM. It involved a semi truck carrying gypsum and at least four other vehicles. The big rig overturned in the collision and spilled the gypsum on the roadway.

No one was seriously injured in the accident.


Traffic was backed up for miles in both directions of the highway, as crews removed the vehicles and cleaned up the gypsum.

The CHP are investigating the crash.

Transit Bus and Two Other Vehicles Crash on Highway 63

October 19 2011- An Orosi woman was seriously injured in a car crash involving a transit bus and two other vehicles Wednesday afternoon on Highway 63, just miles from Visalia.

A Tulare County Area Transit bus was traveling northbound on Highway 63, just south of Cutler. The Orosi woman was driving a Nissan west on Avenue 400, when she went through the stop sign at the intersection, right in front of the transit bus.


The bus hit the driver’s side of the Nissan, then swerved trying to avoid a southbound Plymouth Acclaim, which was also swerving to avoid the bus. The bus and car were unable to avoid the collision with one another.

Fire crews used the Jaws of Life to free the Orosi driver from her vehicle. She was flown to Community Regional Medical Center, in Fresno. And is said to be in critical condition.


Three other people also suffered minor injuries and were taken to the hospital.

Hit-and-Run Leaves One Man Critically Hurt in Fresno

October 14, 2011- A hit-and-run accident in Southeast Fresno leaves a pedestrian in critical condition Friday night.

A man in his late 30’s was crossing the intersection of Cedar Avenue and Butler Avenue, at about 7:00 PM, when he was hit by a Toyota SUV.

The man was taken to Community Regional Medical Center after sustaining major injuries.

The driver of the Toyota sped off after the crash. Police are looking for a metallic blue Toyota SUV, with visible front-end damage.  If you have any information please call the Fresno Police.

Early Morning Crash Ends Fatally on Highway 190 near Porterville

October 16, 2011- A crash early Sunday morning between a bus and car ends in fatality on Highway 190 near Porterville, 30 minutes from Visalia.

The crash occurred at about 2:15 AM. The bus was stopped at a red light on eastbound Hwy 190 and Jaye Street. A 1998 Dodge Neon, driven by Francisco Luna of Strathmore, rear-ended the bus. The Neon was traveling at a high rate of speed and caught fire after it collided.

A passenger in the Dodge, Tashia Laird of Porterville, was pulled from the burning car, but died at the scene of the accident.

Luna and another passenger, Omar Ibarra of Lindsay, received major injuries. They were medi-flighted to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno. They are both expected to survive.

Five passengers on the bus complained of pain, and were taken to Sierra View District Hospital to be treated.

Officers believe that alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.

SUV Collides with School Bus in Fresno County

October 17, 2011- A school bus and SUV crash sends four people to the hospital Monday morning in Fresno County, at the intersection of Grantland Avenue and McKinley Avenue. The accident happened at about 8:30 AM.

Neighbors in that area said that this intersection has been a problem spot for years. With accidents occurring about once a month.

The intersection has a two way stop on a rural county road. The driver of an GMC SUV ran a stop sign while northbound on Grantland Ave. At the same time a Central Unified school bus was headed west on McKinley Ave. The bus was taking nine students to Roosevelt and Harvest elementary schools.


The GMC driver slammed into the left front end of the bus. The impact caused the vehicle to swing back around and hit it for a second time at the center of the driver’s side of the bus.

Two students and the driver of both vehicles suffered minor injuries and were taken to local hospitals to be treated.

Train Hits Car on Arboleda Drive in Merced

October 13, 2011- a train struck the front of a car in Merced, north of Fresno, on Thursday at about 10:40 AM.

A white BMW was traveling north on Arboleda Drive near Highway 140 and stopped at the railroad tracks. The vehicle somehow moved forward as the crossing arms began to come down.

Officers said that for some reason the driver was unable to move the car and it was struck by the train that was traveling east.


The train hit the front of the BMW, but the female driver was not seriously injured.

Three Vehicle Accident on Highway 140 in Merced

October 13, 2011- An accident between three vehicles occurred Thursday, on Highway 140 in Merced, an hour from Fresno. The crash happened at about 10:30 AM.

A Chevy van and a Chevy Impala had both stopped at a stop sign on eastbound Highway 140, at Arboleda Drive. The driver of a flatbed semi truck was traveling east on Highway 140. He failed to stop at the intersection in time and crashed into the back of the Impala, which pushed it into the back of the van.


Several people were injured, but none of the injuries were serious.

Big Rig Crashes into Three Cars on Highway 99

October 17, 2011- a Modesto crash involving a big rig and three other cars stalled traffic for several hours on Highway 99, Monday morning.

At approximately 8:30 AM southbound traffic exiting onto the Briggsmore-Carpenter off ramp came to a stop in the slow lane of the highway north of the overpass.

The driver of a semi truck, Rohit Chandowailia of Stockton, was driving south on the freeway when he braked to avoid the stopped traffic, but his truck jackknifed.


The cab of the semi swung across the slow lane knocking three cars off the road, over an embankment. The big rig hit a Mazda 3, driven by Byron Aranda of Manteca. The it crashed into a 2009 Toyota Prius, driven by Norma Reed of Alamo. Lastly it collided with a Ford Ranger, driven by Adolfo Lopez of Salida before also veering over the embankment.

The big rig and the other three vehicles came to rest along a chain link fence that separates the freeway from the railroad tracks.

Lopez was the only one hurt in the crash. He was taken to a local hospital to be treated for his minor injuries.


It is reported that traffic was backed up, because of the accident, all the way to Manteca. The slow lane of the highway was shut down until 12:15 PM.

The CHP said that drugs and alcohol are not contributing factors in the crash. The cause remains under investigation.

Update: Motorcycle and Car Crash Kills Two on Friant Road

October 17, 2011- An update to the crash that happened on Sunday killing two people, on Friant Road in Fresno County. The two victims have been identified.

The accident happened at about 2:05 PM when a motorcyclist, identified at Tung Nguyen of Fresno, hit a Cadillac as it was making a left turn into a private driveway of a winery.

The Cadillac was driven by Arthur Mooshagian, of Fresno. He received minor injuries. Mooshagian’s sister in law was the passenger in the car. She has been identified as Janet Mooshagian also of Fresno.

Janet and Nguyen, who was thrown from his motorcycle, were pronounced dead at the scene of the collision.

Motorcycle and Car Crash Kills Two on Friant Road

October 16, 2011- Two people died Sunday afternoon on Friant Road in Fresno County after a motorcycle and car crashed. The accident occurred at about 2 PM near Willow Avenue.

The crash happened as a northbound red Cadillac sedan was making a left hand turn into a private driveway for a fruit stand and winery along Friant Road. The motorcyclist was riding at a high speed when he collided with the passenger side of the Cadillac.

The impact from the crash killed the motorcyclist who is said to be in his mid-20’s and the elderly woman who was the passenger in the car.

The driver of the Cadillac was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.


It is reported that the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet and the occupants in the car did have on their safety restraints.

The accident is under investigation to determine who was at fault.

Two Teens Hurt from Crash in Modesto

October 5, 2011- Two high school students were injured in a crash Wednesday morning, in Modesto north of Fresno.

A 17 year-old Ceres teen was driving a silver Honda Civic westbound on Scenic Drive at approximately 7:30 AM, with her 16 year-old passenger from Modesto.

For unexplained reasons, the driver lost control of the Honda and swerved into the eastbound traffic. The passenger side of the vehicle was broadsided by a blue Mitsubishi Eclipse.



The driver of the Honda suffered minor injuries and the passenger was seriously injured. They were taken to local hospitals.

The driver of the Eclipse, a Lodi resident, was not injured.

Officers said that speed and road conditions were believed to be factors in the accident. The street was slippery from an overnight rain storm.

Auberry Accident Kills Three People

October 8, 2011- Three people died in a crash near Auberry northeast of Fresno, early Saturday morning. The crash happened on Frazier Road, near Auberry Road, at about 1:30 AM.

The driver of a 2010 Ford Mustang, Cameron Conchini of Clovis, was driving westbound on Frazier Rd. The CHP reported that he was speeding, and that the car crashed through a barbed wire fence, before hitting an oak tree.

Conchini, and passengers Michelle Mckeighan of Auberry, and Sandra Hernandez of Clovis were all pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.


Highway Patrol officers reported that the three were leaving Stonehouse Tavern, and alcohol may have been involved in the collision.

Bus Carrying Inmates Crashes on Highway 43

October 12, 2011- A bus carrying inmates crashed Wednesday afternoon on Highway 43, north of Delano.

The accident happened at about 1:00 PM at the intersection of Hwy 43 and Garces Highway.

The Fresno Sheriff’s Department was transporting the prisoners northbound at 55 mph and had the right of way, according to the CHP. A big rig that had stopped at the stop sign turned right in front of the bus.

The bus hit the semi’s trailer, which broke all the glass in the front of the bus and smashed the door. This made the bus completely immobile in the middle of the intersection.

The five people on board the bus were wearing their seat belts, so no one was seriously injured. Just complaints of pain to their arms, shoulders, and legs.

Rescue crews worked on getting the bus moved from the middle of the highway, which took awhile because the brakes were locked up.

Fatality on Church Avenue near Rolinda

October 13, 2011- A crash Thursday morning just minutes from Fresno near Rolinda leaves one man dead.

The accident occurred at about 7:00 AM, when a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado truck, driven by Hector Velasco of Fresno, was headed east on Church Avenue. The Chevy pickup drifted off the road, just west of Dickerson Avenue, and hit a post and a tree, then overturned.


Velasco was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle. He died from his injuries. A passenger in the Chevy, Darwin Gomez, also of Fresno, was wearing his seat belt and was not injured.

Fatal Big Rig Crash on Highway 46 in Wasco

October 10, 2011- a head-on collision on Highway 46 in Wasco, northwest of Bakersfield kills one and seriously injures another.

The crash happened at about 7:15 AM, when the driver of a car eastbound on the highway crossed lanes into the opposite direction of traffic and collided head-on with a big rig truck at Mc Kibben Road.


The impact from the crash caused the trailer of the semi, that was full of sand and gravel, to overturn onto the shoulder of the road. The force of the impact was so great that it crushed the cab of the big rig and killed the driver, 76-year-old Charles Edward Lawson.


The driver of the car, Josue A. Hernandez was critically injured and airlifted to Kern Medical Center in Bakersfield.

It is reported that Hernandez was not trying to pass anyone. The CHP are now trying to figure out if he was possibly falling asleep at the wheel.

Update: Highway 41 Accident in Coarsegold

October 11, 2011- an update to the head-on crash that occurred on Highway 41 in Coarsegold near Hummingbird Lane, that left two people dead.

The Fresno woman that crossed the double-yellow line of the highway Tuesday afternoon and crashed into the other vehicle has been identified as Sharon Rutherford. She died at the scene of the accident.

The driver of the Honda, died later at the hospital, has been identified as Karen Edie.

The passenger in the Mitsubishi Galant was taken to the hospital with major injuries to his chest. His name has not been released.

Update: Fatality on Highway 99 in Fowler

October 11, 2011- An update to the collision on Highway 99 that occurred Tuesday, south of Fresno, which left one man dead.

The 28-year-old man from Bakersfield, who drove his 2005 Chevy Trailblazer into the back of a semi truck, has been identified as Steven Edwards. Edwards died at the scene of the accident.

The crash occurred when the big rig had stopped because of debris in the roadway on Hwy 99, in Fowler.

The driver of the semi truck was J. Carbelo, of West Palm Beach, Florida.

Highway 41 Accident in Coarsegold Ends in Two Fatalities

October 11, 2011- A head-on collision on Highway 41 in Coarsegold, 40 minutes from Fresno, ends fatally.

The crash happened on Tuesday at about 4:35 PM, on Highway 41 near Humming Bird Drive.

A 71-year-old Fresno woman was driving a 2002 Mitsubishi Galant, headed south on the highway. The Galant crossed the double yellow line and crashed head-on with a 2007 Honda Accord, being driven by a 58-year-old woman from Coarsegold.

The Fresno woman died at the scene of the accident. The Coarsegold driver suffered major injuries and was airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno, where she later died.

A 76-year-old man, who was a passenger in the Galant, received major injuries and was also flown to Community Regional.

Three Vehicle Collision on Highway 132

October 7, 2011- A crash between three vehicles leave at least two people hurt Friday afternoon on Highway 132, four miles west of Highway 99 and Modesto.

The accident happened at approximately 4:20 PM, between a Honda Civic, an Acura Integra, and another vehicle, near the intersection of Maze Boulevard and Stone Avenue.


One man was pinned in the Integra, and had to be rescued from the vehicle by emergency crews.

It is reported that one of the heavily damaged cars burst into flames, after the collision. But personnel were able to extinguish the fire before it engulfed the whole vehicle.

The man that was pinned and one other person were injured and taken to a Modesto hospital. Their conditions are unknown at this time.

The crash closed Highway 132 in both directions for about an hour. It was opened to traffic at about 5:30 PM.

Fatality on Highway 99 in Fowler

October 11, 2011- A deadly accident occurred Tuesday morning on Highway 99, in Fowler, just miles from Fresno.

The crash happened on the northbound lanes of Hwy 99 near Clovis Avenue at about 10:30 AM. A big rig and an SUV were involved in the collision.

The CHP said that one person was killed when the SUV hit the semi truck near the exit at Adams Avenue.


No other injuries are reported at this time.

Update: Deputy's Car Crashes Into a Canal Near Los Banos

October 6, 2011- The Merced County sheriff’s deputy that crashed into a canal near Los Banos northwest of Fresno, on Thursday, has been identified as Giovgiz Ysael.

Ysael suffered minor injuries after swerving to avoid a head-on collision with a 1990 Acura on Turner Island Road. The Acura was driven by Oscar Berumen of Los Banos.

Ysael’s cruiser hit a power pole and went into the canal.

Berumen, and his passenger, Juan Sandoval, were unharmed in the accident.

Fatal Crash Between Big Rig and Car on Avenue 184

October 8, 2011- a fatal collision between a car and a semi truck carrying manure ends in one dead, Saturday morning, southwest of Visalia.

The head-on crash occurred at 7:39 AM. Aristeo Alvarado of Corcoran, was heading east on Avenue 184, west of Road 64, in his 2011 Chevy Malibu, when a semi truck made a left turn into the car’s path.

The driver of the big rig, Miguel A. Garcia of Tulare, received only minor injuries and was taken to Tulare District Hospital.

Alvarado was pinned inside his car, and died at the scene of the accident.

It is reported that neither driver was wearing their seat belts. CHP said that alcohol is not suspected as a factor in the crash.

Deputy's Car Crashes into a Canal near Los Banos

October 6, 2011- A Sheriff’s deputy from Merced County and his dog suffered minor injuries Thursday evening, while trying to avoid a crash with another vehicle near Los Banos, northwest of Fresno.

The deputy was driving his patrol vehicle north, at about 6:30 PM, on Turner Island Road, south of Henry Miller Road. Meanwhile a 19-year-old man from Los Banos was driving south On Turner Island Rd., at about 60 mile per hour.

The man saw the deputy’s car, tried to slow down, but lost control of his vehicle and began swerving into the deputy’s lane.


To avoid the collision, the deputy turned to the right, but lost control of the cruiser, and hit a power pole. The patrol car then went into a canal. He and the dog both escaped the water with only minor injuries.

The 19-year-old driver was said to be unharmed.

Drunk Driver Causes Four Vehicle Collision in Bakersfield

October 6, 2011- a suspected drunk driver caused an accident that ended fatally on Thursday afternoon in Bakersfield.

At about 3:30 PM a driver of a silver pickup truck drove through a red light at the intersection of Mount Vernon Avenue and Virginia Avenue.

The suspected drunk driver’s truck smashed into another pickup, driven by Robert Blaine Grant of Bakersfield. The collision pushed Grant’s truck into another vehicle and a big rig.

Witnesses stepped in to apprehend the intoxicated driver before he could run away.

Robert Grant died from serious injuries, as a result of the accident, at the hospital on Friday.

Motorcyclist Overturns His Bike on Highway 180

October 3, 2011- A motorcyclist suffered major injuries in a crash Monday afternoon, on Highway 180 in the Sierra foothills, miles from Fresno.

Martin Brajkovich of Hollister, was westbound on Highway 180 on his Harley Davidson motorcycle, approaching Millwood Road. He lost control of the motorcycle and overturned, causing serious injury.

Brajkovich was taken to the hospital for treatment.

No one else was involved in the accident.

Almond Harvester Accident Kills Driver in Fresno County

September 30, 2011- A man was killed in an accident involving an almond harvester, on Friday in Fresno County, near Riverdale.

The crash occurred just before noon, in an almond orchard near Highway 41 and Elkhorn Avenue.


The driver of an almond harvester was driving along a dirt road getting ready to turn onto the highway when he crashed into an open metal pole gate.

The end of the pole went through the small window of the cab, impaling the driver. The driver died at the scene of the accident.

Sanger Man Killed After His Vehicle Overturns

September 24, 2011- A Sanger man died Saturday morning in an accident that caused his car to overturn, east of Clovis and Fresno. The incident occurred just before 11 AM.

The man in the crash has been identified as George Wood. Wood was driving a 2003 Chevrolet, headed west on Watts Valley Road, east of Bull Run Creek. He drifted into the eastbound lanes, then swerved back into the westbound lanes, and drove off the road.

The Chevy overturned and Wood suffered major injuries. He was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, where he died.

Motorcyclist Hurt in Accident on Highway 180

October 3, 2011- A motorcycle driver was involved in an accident on Highway 180 in Fresno, early Monday morning.

The accident occurred on 180, just west of Highway 168, when a driver of a station wagon struck a car, and the motorcycle.

The motorcyclist crashed and was injured with a possible broken leg. He was taken to the hospital for treatment.


The driver of the car was not hurt.

The driver of the station wagon was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence.

Two Pedestrians Hit in Two Separate Accidents in Fresno

October 5, 2011- Two different pedestrians and two vehicle accidents leaves one woman dead and another in serious condition early Wednesday morning in Fresno.

The fatal crash happened at about 3:45 AM at Feland Avenue and Shaw Avenue in northwest Fresno. An unidentified woman believed to be from Oakland, was hit by a car.


The other accident happened earlier when a homeless woman was struck by a vehicle at Herndon Avenue and Millbrook Avenue, in northeast Fresno. She suffered major injuries and was taken to the hospital for surgery.


The drivers in both incidents do not appear to be at fault.

Reports say that so far this year, there have been nine pedestrian fatalities in Fresno.

Highway 99 Accident in Modesto Kills One, Injures Another

October 2, 2011- One driver was killed and another hurt in two accidents early Sunday morning on Highway 99, near Kiernan Avenue in Modesto.

A man was driving north on Hwy 99 in a 2001 Ford, at about 2:10 AM, when his vehicle drifted to the left into the median. He then swerved to the right, crossing all three lanes, and overturned.

Amanda Hallberg of Manteca, the driver of a 2007 Buick, then hit the Ford. It is reported she did not see the other vehicle in time to avoid hitting it.

The Ford driver suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene of the crash. Hallberg sustained minor injuries.

The accident is under investigation.

Update: Collision With Police Car in Fresno Ends Fatally

October 3, 2011- An update on the man who was killed in a crash with a police cruiser early Monday morning.

The driver of the Mazda has been identified as Matthew White of Fresno.

The accident occurred on Brawley Avenue as the police officer was responding to a call. As he was driving down Brawley Ave., White made a left U-turn right in front of the patrol car. The officer slammed into the middle of the passenger side.


White died from the impact of the collision.

It is believed that an air bag prevented the officer from being seriously injured.

No information about the name of the officer. He joined the police force, in Fresno, in 2006.

Head-on Collision Ends Fatally in Fresno

October 2, 2011- A head-on collision in central Fresno ends with one person dead and another in critical condition.

The accident occurred at 4:30 PM, when the driver of a car going south on Brawley Avenue veered into the northbound lane. That car crashed head-on with an oncoming car, near Weber Avenue.


The crash killed the northbound driver, and injured his female passenger. The southbound driver was taken to Community Regional Medical center, with major injuries.

Collision With Police Car in Fresno Ends Fatally

October 3, 2011- A man died early Monday morning, when he collided with a police car in Fresno. The crash occurred at 2:51 AM.

The officer driving the police car was driving on Brawley Avenue, to the scene of a burglary in northwest Fresno.

The driver of a white 1987 Mazda 626 was making a U-turn into the path of the patrol car on Brawley, north of San Jose Avenue. The cruiser struck the Mazda broadside between the tires on the passenger side.


It is reported that the police vehicle was going between 40-50 mph. The cruiser hit with such force that it killed the driver of the Mazda.

The officer received minor injuries and was taken to Saint Agnes Medical Center.

Early reports indicate that the officer had the right of way.
